UNIPMA Proves That PKKMB Without Violence Can Still Build Student Character
UNIPMA — Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) has demonstrated that developing the character of new students does not have to involve violence. This was evident on the second day of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, held at Graha Cendekia on Tuesday (8/9).
Instead of using an intimidating approach, UNIPMA equipped new students with materials relevant to university life, ranging from violence prevention, bullying, and anti-corruption efforts to a healthy, drug-free campus and academic life in the digital era.
Dr. Yoga Ardian Feriandi, S.Pd., M.Pd., as the head of the organizing committee, said in an interview that the materials provided were based on national guidelines as well as students’ developmental needs.
“PKKMB materials refer to national guidelines and students’ developmental needs,” he said.
According to him, PKKMB is part of the process of transitioning students from school to university life. Students are beginning to be required to manage their assignments, make decisions, and independently face the dynamics of university life.
“Higher education places greater emphasis on independence. Through PKKMB, students are assisted in adapting so that they are prepared to pursue their education at university,” he added.
In the first session, new students received materials on Mental Health, Anti-Drug Awareness, and Cybercrime Mitigation, delivered by Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Madiun City Police, AKP Agus Riadi, S.H., M.H.
Next, materials on the prevention and handling of violence in the campus environment were delivered by Dr. Sulistya Eviningrum, S.H., M.H., as the PPKS representative. Meanwhile, materials related to occupational safety and health as well as the campus environment were delivered by Dyan Hatining Ayu Sudarani, M.T., from K3L.
New students also received materials on National Insight, delivered by Pasi Bakti Siterrem 081/DSJ Korem 081, Mayor Infanteri Suyanto.
Through this series of sessions, UNIPMA presented a PKKMB program that is educational, humane, and relevant to students’ needs. The program was not only focused on welcoming new students but also served as an initial platform for instilling the values of independence, responsibility, discipline, and awareness of the importance of creating a safe and healthy campus environment.
Dr. Yoga Ardian Feriandi, S.Pd., M.Pd., expressed his hope that the entire PKKMB program would run safely while providing tangible benefits for new students. “Most importantly, they gain positive impacts from the values instilled by the speakers,” he concluded.
