UNIPMA – Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) is expanding international learning opportunities through the International Faculty Exchange Program (Program Pertukaran Dosen Internasional/PDI) for the Second Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The program involves 13 partner universities from the Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia through a guest lecture scheme, all of which are conducted synchronously.

The program provides UNIPMA lecturers and students with opportunities to interact directly with academics from overseas universities. In its implementation, UNIPMA lecturers and lecturers from partner universities teach between one and six sessions per semester according to the agreed schedule.

A total of 13 partner universities are involved in the PDI program. From the Philippines, UNIPMA’s partners include Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC), Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U), Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), Benguet State University (BSU), Tarlac State University (TSU), Surigao Del Norte State University (SNSU), and University of Nueva Caceres (UNC).

Meanwhile, the partners from Thailand include Thaksin University, Hatyai University, Krirk University through British International College (BIC), and Walailak University. From Malaysia, UNIPMA collaborates with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

During the Second Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, nine UNIPMA lecturers received 10 outbound assignments to partner universities. One lecturer, Dr. Sri Lestari, M.Pd. from the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD), carried out two assignments at different universities.

Dr. Rosita Ambarwati, M.Pd. from the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG), was assigned to ISPSC in the Philippines to teach Sociolinguistics. Meanwhile, Dr. Apriyanti, S.E., M.M. from the Management Study Program taught at ISAT U on the topic “Global Strategies: Exploring Comparative Economic Planning.”

From the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program, Ihtiari Prasetyaningrum, M.Pd., participated as an outbound lecturer at NEUST, Philippines. She delivered material entitled “Bridging Innovation Instruction – AI Generated,” which focused on the use of artificial intelligence in learning.

Two lecturers from the English Education Study Program (PBI) also had the opportunity to teach at partner universities in the Philippines and Thailand. Dr. Samsul Arifin, M.Pd. taught Authentic Assessment at BSU, Philippines, while Dr. Lulus Irawati, S.S., M.Pd. delivered material on Research Genre Analysis (The Rhetorical Moves of Research Genre) at Thaksin University, Thailand.

From the History Education Study Program, Anjar Mukti Wibowo, S.Sn., S.Pd., M.Pd., was assigned to BSU, Philippines. He delivered the topic “Thongling Perspective in Education and Social Life: Insights from Southeast Asia.”

Meanwhile, Management Study Program lecturer Arifiansyah Saputra, S.T., M.M. taught at Hatyai University, Thailand, with material entitled “Capital Budgeting for Sustainable Energy: Evaluating Green Projects in Developing Markets.”

The opportunity to teach at an overseas university was also given to Dr. Erlik Widiyani Styati, M.Pd. from the English Education Study Program. She was assigned to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, to deliver material on Academic Writing.

Dr. Sri Lestari, M.Pd. from the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program carried out two assignments. She taught Psychological Well-being of Exchange Program at SNSU, Philippines, and Research Methodology in ELT at Walailak University, Thailand.

The PDI program does not only involve lecturers receiving outbound assignments. Overall, 40 lecturers participated as instructors, consisting of 30 inbound lecturers and 10 outbound assignments.

The number of inbound lecturers during this period increased compared with the previous period, which involved 14 lecturers. The lecturers came from various academic disciplines, resulting in increasingly diverse learning materials for students.

From the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), the program involved the Management, Accounting, Diploma III Tax Management, and Tax Accounting Management Study Programs. The Faculty of Engineering (FT) involved the Information Systems, Informatics Engineering, and Electrical Engineering Study Programs.

Meanwhile, from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), the program involved Elementary School Teacher Education, English Education, Biology Education, Electrical Engineering Education, Early Childhood Education Teacher Education, Guidance and Counseling, History Education, Mathematics Education, and Science Education.

The PDI program also involves the Law Study Program from the Faculty of Law (FH), as well as Pharmacy and Sports fields from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Science (FIKS).

Through the guest lecture scheme, UNIPMA students can attend lectures with lecturers from overseas universities without having to leave the university campus. These interactions provide students with opportunities to gain direct exposure to academic perspectives from other countries.

The materials covered a wide range of fields, including education, languages, management, technology, biology, pharmacy, history, research, and the use of artificial intelligence in learning. At the same time, UNIPMA lecturers also gained experience sharing knowledge with students from partner universities.

The program also serves as an opportunity for lecturers to improve their academic communication skills in English. These skills are an important factor in supporting the learning process within an increasingly globally connected higher education environment.

Before carrying out their assignments, lecturers received preparation through an international class program, including training to teach in English. UNIPMA also coordinated with study programs and the Language Development Center to support lecturers’ readiness.

The implementation of the PDI program in the Second Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year will serve as an evaluation basis for expanding the involvement of study programs, improving lecturers’ English proficiency, and strengthening collaboration with partner universities.

The program will continue in the First Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year, with opportunities to add more partner universities. With an academic network spanning the Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia, UNIPMA continues to expand access to international learning for lecturers and students through cross-border academic experiences.
