UNIPMA – The Madiun Regency Government and Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) are encouraging the expansion of access to higher education as part of efforts to improve the quality of human resources (HR) in the region. This effort is carried out through UNIPMA’s New Student Admission (PMB) services, which provide several schemes for the community and alumni to continue their education.

The synergy was highlighted during an activity involving the Madiun Regency Government, UNIPMA, and the UNIPMA Alumni Association at Pendopo Ronggo Djoemeno, Caruban, on Tuesday (11/8), yesterday. Cooperation between the local government and higher education institutions is considered important to encourage the community to pursue higher levels of education.

Madiun Regent H. Hari Wuryanto said in an interview that higher education institutions have a role in preparing human resources that meet the needs of the region. Therefore, education programs need to continue to be aligned with the conditions and needs of the community.

“Collaboration between the local government and higher education institutions is important to produce quality human resources,” said H. Hari Wuryanto.

In the context of expanding access, the UNIPMA PMB Bureau provides admission pathways that can be utilized by prospective students with different backgrounds and needs. One of them is through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for applicants who already have previous work or learning experience.

Head of the UNIPMA PMB Bureau, Dr. Candra Dewi, S.Pd., M.Pd., said that such experience can be recognized in accordance with applicable regulations and converted into academic credits (SKS). This scheme allows students to undertake their studies with a workload that is more aligned with the results of the recognition process.

“RPL allows previous work and learning experience to be recognized, so the study period can be shorter,” said Dr. Candra Dewi, S.Pd., M.Pd., on Friday (28/8), yesterday.

UNIPMA also offers a hybrid learning model for the Doctoral Program (S3) in Education. This model is intended to provide flexibility for students who continue to carry out their professional activities while pursuing their education.

In terms of financing, UNIPMA PMB provides a 30 percent reduction in BPI for alumni. There is also a monthly installment scheme, as well as provisions for tuition fee reductions for children of alumni who meet the requirements.

In addition to the registration process, PMB provides consultation and assistance services, ranging from document preparation and credit conversion to the learning recognition process.

“Assistance is provided until prospective students complete the process and are officially admitted as UNIPMA students,” added Dr. Candra Dewi, S.Pd., M.Pd.

Through these schemes, expanding access to education is not only aimed at increasing the number of students but also at providing educational pathway options that are more suitable for the community. This initiative is expected to contribute to improving the quality of human resources and advancing education in Madiun Regency.
