UNIPMA – Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) expanded its international network by participating in Walailak University International Day (WUiDAY) 2026 in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand. Held in early July, the forum brought together universities from around the world to establish partnerships in education, research, and innovation.

Carrying the theme "Bridging Regional and International Dialogue for Global Education and Sustainability" (BRIDGES), the event gathered dozens of universities, diplomatic representatives, and academic communities from various countries. The forum focused on fostering collaboration in student mobility, internship programs, and joint research.

UNIPMA was represented by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Marheny Lukitasari, M.Pd., and the Head of the Bureau of Cooperation and Public Relations (BKH), Dr. Sri Lestari, M.Pd. In an interview, Dr. Sri Lestari stated that UNIPMA's participation in the international forum was a strategic step to introduce the university's strengths while exploring new partnership opportunities.

"The main agenda of the UNIPMA delegation at this event was to present the university's profile and identify potential strategic collaborations with the new partners attending the forum," she said on Saturday (July 11).

During the international partnership presentation session, UNIPMA introduced several of its flagship programs, including student mobility, scholarship opportunities, and collaborative research initiatives. The forum also provided an opportunity to engage directly with representatives of foreign embassies based in Bangkok, as well as leaders of universities from various countries.

In addition to the presentations, the UNIPMA delegation participated in the Parallel Networking session to expand connections with prospective academic partners. The session brought together participants from Australia, China, Germany, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Russia, Taiwan, and several other countries, all of whom presented potential areas for collaboration.

Dr. Sri Lestari explained that the discussions initiated during the forum would be followed up through more concrete cooperation with several universities that had established communication throughout the event.

"We have identified a number of collaboration opportunities. The next step is to follow them up through the preparation of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Memoranda of Agreement (MoAs) so that these partnerships can be implemented," she added.

UNIPMA's participation in WUiDAY 2026 reflects the university's commitment to strengthening the internationalization of higher education. By expanding its global academic network, the university aims to provide broader opportunities for lecturers and students to engage in international academic programs.
