UNIPMA Lecturers and Students Attend “Madiun Archive Exploration,” Strengthening the Implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education
Dosen dan mahasiswa Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) attended the “Madiun Jelajah Arsip” (Madiun Archive Exploration) event held at the Madiun City Library and Archives Office (Arpus) on Wednesday (17/6). The event was also attended by the Acting Mayor of Madiun Bagus Panuntun, Kompas Madya, Lesbumi, cultural communities, and student groups from various universities.
The presence of UNIPMA academics in the forum reflects the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in education, research, and community service through strengthening historical literacy and archival awareness.
UNIPMA English Education lecturer, Dr. Aris Wuryantoro, S.S., M.Hum., stated that the “Ngopi Bareng” (informal discussion) session emphasized the importance of strengthening archival systems as part of historical documentation and regional identity.
He explained that public awareness of the importance of archives must be maintained and improved, including within higher education institutions.
“Archives are not only storage documents but can also be developed into learning media and research sources that benefit both students and the wider community,” said Dr. Aris Wuryantoro, S.S., M.Hum.
He further noted that the involvement of UNIPMA lecturers and students in this activity opens opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration in developing educational-based archival studies.
In the future, campus archives are expected to be utilized as interactive learning media to support academic processes and student research.
“Archives have the potential to be developed into learning resources across disciplines, ranging from history, literature, education, and other fields,” he added.
During the forum, Acting Mayor of Madiun Bagus Panuntun also encouraged academics and the public to contribute to city development according to their respective fields of expertise.
For UNIPMA, this activity serves as a collaborative space between universities, government, and communities in developing local potential based on historical and cultural literacy.
In addition to archival discussions, the event also highlighted the importance of documenting local history through creative works, including the short story anthology Madiun dalam Cerita, which features various local narratives about Madiun by the Madiun Raya Literary Community (Kosamara).
Several stories in the book explore local culinary history such as the famous Madiun pecel rice, the development of the Kanigoro Sugar Factory industry, and efforts to introduce historical buildings through educational and historical approaches.
Through its participation in this event, UNIPMA continues to strengthen its commitment as an impactful university actively promoting literacy, research, and community service based on local potential and regional history.
