The event was attended by the Deputy Head of DAOP 7 Madiun, Alam Prasetyo, managers, staff, and employees of KAI DAOP 7 Madiun.
The UNIPMA delegation was attended by UNIPMA Chancellor Dr. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd., Dean of FKIP Dr. Waskito Ardhi, S.Pd., M.Pd., Deputy Dean of FKIP Dr. Edy Suprapto, S.Si., M.Pd., Study Program Representative Dr. Raras Setyo Retno, S.Pd., M.Pd,. as well as representatives from the Madiun City Culture and Youth Office Slamet.
The song “Madiun Station” serves as a form of appreciation for the identity and historical value of Madiun Station as one of the important transportation hubs in East Java. Through its lyrics and musical arrangement, the song is expected to introduce and foster public pride in Madiun Station.
In addition, the song is planned to be played at Madiun Station during train arrivals.
In an interview, Hartini, S.Sn., M.Pd., explained that the song “Madiun Station” carries a welcoming message for train passengers arriving in Madiun City.
“This song welcomes train passengers arriving at Madiun Station. Every part of the song has its own meaning,” she said.
She explained that the lyric section “Welcome to Madiun City” portrays Madiun as a peaceful, clean city known as the “City of Warriors.” Meanwhile, other parts describe the services at Madiun Station as friendly, polite, and responsive in serving customers.
Hartini, S.Sn., M.Pd., also included depictions of train travel through the lyric “Speeding Without Hesitation,” symbolizing trains as a fast and reliable mode of transportation.
According to her, the song also captures various stories of passengers she encountered while at the station, ranging from passengers missing their trains to other experiences of railway service users.
For the music genre, Hartini, S.Sn., M.Pd., adopted a pop-keroncong concept so that the song would be easily accepted by various audiences. “The concept is pop keroncong, so it’s not too traditional keroncong, but still contains pop elements,” she said.
Hartini, S.Sn., M.Pd., admitted that her interest in music had emerged long ago. Before becoming a lecturer at UNIPMA, she had already been active in the music arts world and had composed the Hymn of IKIP PGRI Madiun as a form of appreciation for the campus where she serves.
In the process of creating the song “Madiun Station,” Hartini also collaborated with her husband, Uyung. The husband-and-wife collaboration became part of the creative process until the song was officially launched.
Hartini, S.Sn., M.Pd., hopes that works of art can go hand in hand with the academic world. According to her, academic and non-academic activities complement each other in developing the potential of both students and lecturers.
“Academic activities can also be enriched by non-academic ones because they complement each other,” she said. She also encouraged the younger generation to continue creating through process, passion, and willingness to learn.
“In creating works, process and intention are needed. If there is determination, it will surely be realized and developed through the process,” she concluded.
