The Science Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Madiun Holds Scientific Article Writing Training, Encouraging Students to Be Productive in Creating Works

UNIPMA – The Science Education Student Association (Mahadipa) of Universitas PGRI Madiun held the 2026 Scientific Article Writing Training for Science Education Students (MAHADIPA) at the UNIPMA Physics Laboratory on Friday (June 3). The activity was organized as an effort to improve students’ academic competence in scientific writing and journal publication.

Carrying the theme “Acceleration of Scientific Publication: Transforming Science Education Students’ Ideas into Reputable Works,” the activity was conducted in the form of a seminar and academic workshop. The training was attended by 13 active students from the Science Education Study Program in the 2nd and 4th semesters.

Alifinia Julia Permata Sari, as the chief organizer, stated in an interview that the activity was motivated by the existing gap between students’ creative idea potential and their technical ability to prepare scientific articles according to journal standards.

“Participants were introduced to the structure of scientific article writing, journal writing styles, as well as reference and citation management. In fact, many student research results actually have the potential to be published,” said Alifinia.

The activity was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNIPMA, Dr. Muh. Waskito Ardhi, S.Pd., M.Pd., who delivered remarks to the participants. In addition, the Head of the Science Education Study Program, Dr. Tantri Mayasari, S.Pd., M.Pd., was present and officially opened the event. Also attending were Inung Diah Kurniawati, M.Pd., Tiara Intan Cahyaningtyas, M.Pd., and Suciati, S.Pd.

The training featured Mohammad Arfi Setiawan, M.Pd. as the sole speaker. During the session, participants received material on strategies for finding novelty in research, the structure of scientific articles, abstract writing practices, and the use of the Mendeley application with APA Style formatting.

In addition, participants also joined a scientific article draft review session. Before the activity took place, each participant had been asked to prepare a draft article to be reviewed together during the discussion and mentoring session.

Alifinia explained that the activity aimed to equip students with the technical skills to prepare journal articles according to IMRaD standards (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion), improve skills in using reference management applications, and provide understanding regarding manuscript adjustments based on journal writing styles.

In addition, participants were also equipped with strategies for understanding the assessment system used by editors and reviewers in accredited national journals.

“We hope that after this training, students will gain new competencies to transform ideas and research results into articles ready for publication, both in national and international journals,” she added.

Through this activity, Mahadipa UNIPMA also hopes to encourage a culture of scientific literacy and produce productive young writers who are able to improve the achievements of the Science Education Study Program at UNIPMA.
