UNIPMA Initiates International Collaboration with BulSU Philippines, Strengthening English-Based Academic Programs

Through the Bureau of Cooperation and Public Relations (BKH), Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) has initiated a strategic step by exploring academic collaboration with Bulacan State University (BulSU), Philippines, in an online meeting held on Friday (24/4).

This initiative focuses on developing the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies program as an effort to expand international networks while strengthening English-based academic capacity at the global level.

The meeting was attended by delegations from both institutions. From UNIPMA, the Head of BKH, Dr. Sri Lestari, M.Pd., was present along with her team. Meanwhile, from BulSU, participants included Dr. Lois Ruth A. Villavicencio as Dean of the College of Arts and Letters, Dr. Apolo S. Francisco as Head of the Policy Research Office, Prof. Noel Franco as Director of Internationalization, Dr. Analiza A. Villacorte as Head of the B.A. English Language Studies Program, and Ms. Maribeth A. Bante.

In her remarks, Dr. Lois Ruth A. Villavicencio emphasized the importance of international partnerships in improving the quality of higher education. This was reinforced by Dr. Apolo S. Francisco, who stated that synergy among universities is key to addressing increasingly complex global challenges.

During the presentation session, Dr. Sri Lestari, M.Pd., introduced UNIPMA’s profile as a university actively engaged in international programs. Meanwhile, Prof. Noel Franco presented BulSU’s profile and direction for internationalization development.

The discussion continued with Dr. Analiza A. Villacorte, who outlined the objectives of the English Language Studies program. From this session, several collaboration opportunities emerged, including student exchanges, joint curriculum development, and collaborative research in the field of English studies.

The interactive discussion reflected a shared vision between both parties in building an equal and professional partnership. This initiative does not stop at the exploration stage but is directed toward follow-up actions in the form of formulating concrete programs ready for implementation.

This step is part of UNIPMA’s efforts to realize higher education transformation as an “Impactful Campus.” In line with the direction of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), universities are encouraged not only to expand networks but also to improve education quality and global competitiveness.

In the future, the collaboration between UNIPMA and BulSU is expected to develop into a productive long-term partnership, focusing on academic strengthening, innovation, and cross-country knowledge exchange.
