Together with UNIPMA Goes Global! Strengthening International Presence through the SEA-Teacher Project 2026

Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) continues to strengthen its presence on the international stage. Through the Bureau of Cooperation and Public Relations (BKH), UNIPMA welcomed an inbound student delegation from Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC), Philippines, as part of a Faculty Mobility program on Thursday (April 9).

This activity is part of the SEA-Teacher Project 2026, a regional collaborative program that brings together pre-service teacher students from various countries in Southeast Asia. The program provides opportunities for direct academic and cultural exchange. Previously, UNIPMA students had also gained similar opportunities to teach abroad.

Three students from the Philippines; Miya Andrea R. Gonzales, Rica Alyanna R. Pelagio, and Lei Raporada, are participating in this program at SMKN 3 Madiun from March 9 to April 30, 2026. During their stay in Madiun, they are conducting teaching practice at a partner school while also learning about Indonesia’s education system and local wisdom.

The handover ceremony for the students was held in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. The Head of BKH UNIPMA, Dr. Sri Lestari, M.Pd., attended alongside Assistant Professor Herbert M. De Jesus from BASC. The Vice Principal for Student Affairs at SMKN 3 Madiun, Anes Listiyani, S.Pd., M.Pd., Dip. ELT, was also present as a representative of the partner school hosting the teaching practice.

The involvement of partner schools is a crucial element of this program. The participation of SMKN 3 Madiun provides real-world experience for international students while strengthening synergy between higher education institutions and secondary schools.

UNIPMA’s participation in the SEA-Teacher Project 2026 aligns with the policies of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), which encourage universities to actively engage at the global level—not only by producing competent graduates but also by contributing to addressing social, economic, and environmental challenges internationally.

“This program reflects UNIPMA’s commitment to building impactful global networks while enhancing the quality of education through cross-country collaboration,” said Dr. Sri Lestari, M.Pd.

The collaboration between UNIPMA and SMKN 3 Madiun demonstrates that cross-cultural integration in education can be realized concretely. The presence of international students in classrooms fosters the exchange of perspectives and strengthens global competencies for all parties involved.

Through this inbound program, UNIPMA reaffirms its position as an adaptive, innovative, and globally oriented educational institution. The university continues to grow as part of a dynamic and collaborative international education ecosystem.
