UNIPMA Prepares Outstanding Debaters Through the 2026 University-Level NUDC Selection
The 2026 National University Debating Championship (NUDC) university-level selection at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) was successfully held on Wednesday (11/3). The event, which took place in the Micro Lab Room at Campus 1 UNIPMA, became a strategic platform to sharpen students’ critical thinking, logical argumentation, and communication skills.
The organization of the university-level NUDC serves as an initial step for UNIPMA in selecting and preparing the best students to compete at higher levels. This event is designed as a space for students to train their systematic, critical, and analytical thinking skills, as well as to respond to various debate motions quickly, accurately, and argumentatively.
Head of the Student Affairs Bureau (BKM) of UNIPMA, Arri Kurniawan, S.S., M.Pd., explained that NUDC is a student debate competition that plays an important role in developing students’ intellectual and communication capacities.
“This event provides a space for students to practice systematic thinking skills and respond to various motions quickly, accurately, and argumentatively,” he said.
He added that NUDC does not only assess the ability to express opinions, but also requires participants to have sharp analysis of the various issues raised in the debate motions. Participants are challenged to construct logical arguments that are data-based and delivered in a structured manner.
In addition, this event also serves as a platform to develop students’ communication skills, particularly in the use of English as the main language in debate. Public speaking ability, self-confidence, and accuracy in conveying ideas are important aspects assessed in this competition.
Through this competitive debate process, participants are also required to continuously update their knowledge on various developing global and national issues. This becomes an important part of shaping students who have broad perspectives, critical thinking, and the ability to respond to various social dynamics in an argumentative manner.
The 2026 university-level NUDC selection was participated in by 11 students from various study programs at UNIPMA. After going through a series of debates and evaluations by the panel of judges, six best participants were selected who demonstrated outstanding performance throughout the competition.
The final results of the UNIPMA NUDC 2026 selection are as follows:
- 1st Place: Wahab Adi Rizqina from the English Language Education Study Program with a total score of 80.
- 2nd Place: Tri Wulan Ageng from the English Language Education Study Program with a total score of 79.
- 3rd Place: Angelina Bertha Aprilya Putri Sabrina from the Accounting Education Study Program with a total score of 76.

- 2nd Runner-up: Anggara Bayu Rizky from the Guidance and Counseling Study Program with a total score of 73.

The selected participants will be prepared to represent UNIPMA in the regional-level NUDC selection under the coordination of the Higher Education Service Institution Region VII (LLDIKTI VII). Coaching and mentoring processes will be carried out to ensure the delegates can perform optimally in the competition.
“We hope to prepare the best team that will represent UNIPMA in the regional NUDC selection under LLDIKTI VII. The participants who pass will be guided and trained to be ready to compete at that level,” added Arri Kurniawan, S.S., M.Pd.
Through this event, UNIPMA is committed to continuously encouraging the development of students’ capacities, particularly in critical thinking, communication, and argumentation skills. It is hoped that the selected delegates will achieve accomplishments and bring pride to UNIPMA in student debate competitions at both national and international levels.
