UNIPMA Chemical Engineering Students Deepen Understanding of Sugar Production Process Through Industrial Visit to PG Redjosarie

The Chemical Engineering Study Program (Tekim) of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) conducted an industrial visit to the Redjosarie Sugar Factory (PG Redjosarie Magetan) last Wednesday (15/10). This activity is part of the Sugar Technology course taught by Sri Wahyuningsih, S.Si., M.Si., with the aim of providing students with direct experience related to the sugar production process.

The activity, titled "Factory Visit PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara at Redjosarie Sugar Factory," offered students the opportunity to directly observe the production flow, from the processing of sugarcane into ready-to-distribute white crystal sugar. They were also introduced to various tools, machinery, and supporting materials used in the processing.

During the visit, students were accompanied by the course instructor and representatives from PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara, the factory manager. The Person-in-Charge of the activity, Chandra Putri Winarto, stated that the agenda was designed to strengthen students' understanding of the application of course material in the industrial world.

"Through this industrial visit, we can directly see the sugar-making process in the factory, understand the application of the knowledge we have studied in class, and gain experience and insight into the working world in the sugar processing sector," she said.

She also hopes that this activity can motivate students to continue their passion for learning and self-development in the field of food technology, especially sugar technology.

This industrial visit is expected to be a bridge between theory and practice, as well as broaden students' knowledge of the dynamics of the local commodity-based food industry.
