UNIPMA Launches UNIMATICS, A Platform for Informatics Students to Develop Skills and Portfolios
The Informatics Engineering (TIF) Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) officially launched a new community called Unipmaverse Informatics (UNIMATICS). This community serves as a space for student self-development while also addressing industry demands for IT talents who are competent, adaptive, and with integrity.
UNIMATICS advisor, Puguh Jayadi, S.Kom., M.Kom., stated that the community was born from students’ concerns about how to sharpen IT skills while also preparing their portfolios during college. “Through UNIMATICS, we want to provide a real space for students to learn, collaborate, and create. They can start building their portfolios early by working on team projects that are relevant to industry needs,” he explained.
The same sentiment was expressed by Jofanza Denis Aldida, founder of UNIMATICS. He revealed that the concept of this community was largely inspired by the Bangkit Program by Google, GoTo, and Traveloka, which successfully produced excellent digital talents. “We want UNIPMA students to have a similar experience by combining hard skills and soft skills. Hopefully, after graduation, UNIMATICS members will already be prepared to compete in the job market,” he said on Wednesday (17/9).
UNIMATICS is designed as an exploration platform for students to discover their interests, sharpen their skills, and gain more practical experiences. Beyond programming, this community also opens opportunities in non-coding fields such as graphic design, photography, content editing, copywriting, and creative content production. Meanwhile, for coding, development focuses on web development, mobile development, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Denis added that concerns about the growing dependency of students on AI technology also became one of the reasons for establishing UNIMATICS. Therefore, the programs offered include workshops, collaborative projects, mini hackathons, and soft skill training. In addition to strengthening technical competencies, students are also trained in communication, team management, and leadership skills.
With the establishment of UNIMATICS, UNIPMA is optimistic about producing Informatics Engineering graduates who are not only academically excellent but also ready to face the challenges of the ever-evolving digital industry.
