Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), through the Language Development Center (P2B), held the English for Academic Proficiency Test (EAPT) on August 22, 23, 25, and 26, 2025. A total of 1,463 students from various levels took part in the test, which was specifically designed to measure academic English proficiency.

The test participants consisted of 13 diploma (D3) students, 1,189 undergraduate (S1) students, and 261 postgraduate (S2) students. D3 and S1 students completed computer-based tests in the university’s laboratories integrated with UNIPMA’s academic information system (SIM), while S2 students took the test through an online system prepared by the committee.

Prior to the test, students attended three consecutive days of online training from August 19–21, 2025. The training materials covered Listening Comprehension, Structure and Written Expression, and Reading Comprehension.

The Head of P2B UNIPMA, Dr. Fitra Pinandhita, M.Pd., emphasized that mastery of English is now an essential need in the global era. “English is not only a tool of communication, but also a key to scientific publication, student exchange, research collaboration, and cross-border academic activities. Therefore, UNIPMA has made EAPT part of its strategy to strengthen academic quality while supporting the university’s internationalization program,” he stated on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Through the implementation of EAPT, UNIPMA aims not only to map students’ abilities, but also to encourage them to improve their English proficiency in order to be more competitive at both national and international levels.

“It is hoped that this test can become a strategic step in building an excellent academic culture with international standards at UNIPMA. In addition, the results can also serve as a reference for designing further development programs,” added Dr. Fitra Pinandhita, M.Pd.

The high number of participants reflects both the students’ enthusiasm and the university’s commitment to preparing graduates who are not only competent in their fields of study but also adaptive to global competition.
