Sambhasana IV of the PBSI Study Program at UNIPMA, Exploring Deep Learning in Indonesian Language & Literature Education

The Indonesian Language & Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) once again held the 4th National Seminar on Language, Literature, and Its Teaching (Sambhasana) via Zoom meeting, Thursday, 21/08/2025.

The theme of Sambhasana IV was “Innovative and Impactful Indonesian Language & Literature Learning through Deep Learning.” The chief organizer, Dr. Kodrat Eko Putro Setiawan, S.Pd., M.Pd., explained in an interview that the theme was chosen in response to educational needs in the technology era.

“In the technology era, learning is not enough just to follow the flow. Therefore, we raised this theme so that students become accustomed to thinking critically and communicatively,” he said. He also added that 298 participants from lecturers, teachers, practitioners, and students took part in this Sambhasana seminar.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Sardulo Gembong, M.Pd., expressed appreciation to all participants. He hoped the seminar could enrich knowledge as well as encourage creative thinking.

“Through this forum, we can examine deep learning more deeply and gain new insights, both for the development of knowledge at universities and in schools,” he said. He also added that participants came from 13 universities, both public and private, across various regions in Indonesia.

Guided by Fajrianto Setyo Nugroho, S.Pd., M.Pd., Sambhasana featured three competent speakers in their fields. First, Prof. Dr. Anas Ahmadi, M.Pd., from Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNS) presented the material “Literature, Learning, Deep Learning.” Second, Dr. Firstya Evi Dinastiti, M.Pd., from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) delivered the material “Digital Technology in Indonesian Language & Literature Learning.” Third, Yunitas Furinawati, S.S., M.A., from Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) discussed “Unveiling Reproduction and Cultural Identity through Oral Literature.”

The event became more interactive with a question-and-answer session, opening discussion space between participants and speakers. Through the ideas, concepts, and innovations born in this forum, Sambhasana IV is expected to provide a real contribution to the advancement of innovative, relevant, and impactful Indonesian language and literature learning.
