UNIPMA Socializes the OBE Curriculum to Realize Impactful Education
PGRI Madiun University (UNIPMA) continues its commitment to improving the quality of education through the implementation of the Outcome Based Education (OBE) Curriculum. As a follow-up to the Review of the OBE-Based Curriculum Guidelines conducted online on June 16, 2025, UNIPMA held a socialization event at the Integrated Laboratory on Wednesday, June 26, 2025. The event was attended by Deans, Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, as well as the faculty and study program quality assurance teams.
This activity is an important part of UNIPMA’s strategic steps in developing a curriculum that is more adaptive to the needs of the times. In the previous online session, UNIPMA invited a resource person from the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Dr. Ir. Syamsul Arifin, M.T., who is also a curriculum expert from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS). He provided substantive input on the draft curriculum guidelines prepared by the UNIPMA OBE Curriculum Guidelines Preparation Committee.
Based on the minutes, Dr. Syamsul emphasized several important points, such as the importance of updating regulatory references according to Ministry Regulation No. 53 of 2023, the preparation of graduate learning outcomes (CPL) aligned with the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), as well as the integration of the university’s vision and mission in the curriculum design. He also highlighted the simplification of the curriculum structure, more systematic mapping of courses, and the importance of involving external stakeholders in the curriculum design process.
The socialization was officially opened by UNIPMA Rector, Dr. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd., but due to other commitments, it was represented by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Elva Nuraina, SE., M.Si.
In her speech, Dr. Elva Nuraina, SE., M.Si, emphasized the importance of aligning perceptions among study program managers so that the curriculum designed not only meets administrative requirements but truly impacts student learning. “We want UNIPMA graduates to be guided according to their interests and best potentials, with a curriculum that concretely supports those achievements,” she said.
A representative from the UNIPMA Learning Development Center added that the OBE approach is not merely about adjusting documents but reflects fundamental educational values. “The implementation of the OBE curriculum is not just about preparing formats, but about how every learning process reflects the values of character, intellect, and national spirit. This is an important foundation at UNIPMA,” he explained in an interview on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
The OBE concept emphasizes the achievement of learning outcomes as the main indicator of educational success. This approach encourages higher education institutions to focus on graduate competencies that meet the demands of the workforce and societal needs.
Through this socialization, UNIPMA hopes all stakeholders within the campus environment gain a comprehensive understanding in designing a curriculum that makes a real impact. This effort is expected to produce graduates who are not only academically excellent but also competitive and positively contribute to society at large.
