UNIPMA Law Faculty and Madiun District Court Strengthen Tridharma Implementation and Legal Internship Opportunities

The Faculty of Law (FH) at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) has established a strategic partnership with the Madiun District Court through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday, June 13, 2025. Held at the Madiun District Court, the agenda aimed to enhance the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education and to expand professional legal internship opportunities for students.

The MoU covers cooperation in education, research, community service, and institutional development. Notably, this partnership opens broader access for UNIPMA students to gain practical experience in judicial settings, bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world legal applications.

UNIPMA’s delegation was led by Rector Dr. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd., accompanied by Dr. Siska Diana Sari, S.H., M.H. (Dean of the Faculty of Law), Dr. Sulistya Eviningrum, S.H., M.H. (Head of the Law Study Program), Dr. Sri Lestari, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Head of BKH), and Bambang Eko Nugroho, S.H., M.H. (Law lecturer and practitioner). The group was warmly welcomed by Indira Patmi, S.H., M.H. (Chief Judge), Dr. Pandu Dewanto, S.H., M.H. (Deputy Chief Judge), and their team from the Madiun District Court.

In his speech, Rector Dr. Supri expressed appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with the judicial institution. “This partnership is a significant step toward delivering legal education that goes beyond theory. Through hands-on learning at the court, students will gain deeper understanding of judicial processes,” he stated.

Chief Judge Indira Patmi echoed this sentiment, affirming that strong synergy between academia and the judiciary is key to deepening students’ comprehension of the legal system. “We are fully supportive of UNIPMA students gaining real-world experience through internships and academic engagements,” she said.

Deputy Chief Judge Dr. Pandu Dewanto added that the collaboration would benefit not only students and faculty, but also judges themselves. He views the partnership as a strategic opportunity to support academic and professional development on both sides.

Further collaboration plans include inviting court practitioners to serve as guest lecturers at UNIPMA and involving university faculty in mentoring judges’ academic writing, including publications in national and international journals.

Moreover, the cooperation is not limited to the law program. It opens cross-disciplinary synergy opportunities, particularly with the Faculty of Engineering, for developing electronic data systems and improving court website management—an essential response to the growing demand for digital transformation in the justice sector. Currently, about two-thirds of court services have adopted digital systems, including the e-Court platform.

Dr. Siska Diana Sari reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to strengthening ties between academic theory and legal practice. “Through this partnership, we aim to produce law graduates who are not only theoretically proficient but also possess strong practical legal skills,” she said.

This collaboration between UNIPMA and the Madiun District Court is expected to pave the way for future synergy across the Madiun residency region. Together, they are committed to cultivating law graduates who are well-equipped to thrive in both academic and professional legal arenas.
