UNIPMA English Education Students Explore Generative AI with Thai Lecturer
The English Education Study Program (PBI), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA), continues to demonstrate its commitment to global education development. Through a Guest Lecture titled “Generative AI in EFL Teaching”, students were invited to explore the use of generative artificial intelligence in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL). The event was held at Smartclassroom Room 301, UNIPMA Campus I, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
The main speaker was Dr. Kiki Juli Anggoro from Walailak University, Thailand. In his presentation, he elaborated on how generative AI can be an innovative and transformative teaching aid.
“Technologies like generative AI open new opportunities for teachers to design more interactive, personalized, and adaptive learning experiences,” he explained.
The event was enthusiastically attended by both faculty members and students of PBI UNIPMA. Throughout the session, the classroom atmosphere was lively. Students listened attentively and showed great interest in the material delivered. Some were even seen taking notes on key points and new ideas that could be implemented in future teaching practices.
Head of the English Education Study Program, Dr. Erlik Widiyani Styati, S.Pd., M.Pd., stated that this activity served as a valuable learning space for students to broaden their academic horizons directly from an experienced international speaker.
“Through this event, students can deepen their understanding in real-world contexts and become more accustomed to interacting in English within a broader academic environment,” she noted.
More than just a guest lecture, this activity served as an inspiration for future teachers to become more open to innovation and cross-border thinking. In an ever-changing educational landscape, the courage to understand and utilize technology is the first step in shaping adaptive educators who align with the demands of the global era.
