IKOR UNIPMA Hosts Guest Lecture on “Evolution of Philippine Dance” with Dr. Ramon from the Philippines

The Sports Science Study Program (IKOR) at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) once again held an international-level Guest Lecture, this time under the theme “Evolution of Philippine Dance.” The event took place on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in Room T503, 5th Floor Integrated Laboratory Building at UNIPMA, featuring Dr. Ramon N. Emmanuel Jr. from Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISATU), Philippines, as the keynote speaker.

Dr. Ramon, who currently serves as the Campus Administrator at ISATU, emphasized the significance of dance in Filipino culture. He explained that dance is not merely a series of movements, but a medium of storytelling and cultural preservation through rhythm and motion.

“Dance is not just movement; it is a story that brings history and national identity to life,” he stated. His explanation was met with great enthusiasm by students and faculty members, who were inspired by his in-depth presentation on the evolution of Philippine dance.

Participants not only learned about the art of dance but also gained insights into how dance reflects the social and cultural transformations of the Philippines over time.

Through this discussion, the IKOR Study Program continues to broaden students’ global perspectives, particularly in integrating sports, arts, and culture within physical education.

This Guest Lecture stands as a concrete testament to IKOR UNIPMA’s commitment to fostering global academic collaboration and enhancing students’ competencies in the fields of sports science and movement arts.
