PPG UNIPMA Empowers MSMEs Through Digital Finance and Product Branding Workshop
Students of the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program from the Accounting Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) have demonstrated their commitment to supporting the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Through a workshop themed “Financial Management and Digital-Based Product Branding Education”, they provided direct training to entrepreneurs from the UMKM Maju Sejahtera Umara Community at the East Java Super Corridor (EJSC) in Madiun City, on Wednesday, April 17, 2025.
This activity was part of a leadership project, a required component of the PPG program as a form of community service. The workshop aimed to improve financial literacy and understanding of digital product branding through two main sessions: financial management education and branding strategy development.
Defi Fitriana, the event coordinator, stated that the workshop was a tangible effort by PPG students to help MSME actors manage their businesses professionally. “Many MSMEs still do not realize the importance of organized financial records and lack visual identity such as logos. We hope that after this event, they can begin applying better systems and attract more customers with a more professional product appearance,” she said.
The workshop opened with a series of formalities including a prayer, the singing of the national anthem Indonesia Raya, the reading of the event rundown, and welcoming remarks from the coordinator and supervising lecturer, Dr. Farida Styaningrum, M.Pd.
In her address, Dr. Farida emphasized the importance of this event as a bridge between academic knowledge and real-world community needs. “This is a strategic step to connect academic theory with practical field demands,” she noted.
The first session was delivered by Dr. Farida herself, covering financial management using the Accurate Lite application. Participants were guided through installation, database setup, transaction recording, and the creation of basic financial reports.
The next session, led by Bayu Kuncoro, S.Ak., focused on product branding using Canva. Participants learned how to create business logos and understand the importance of attractive and consistent visual identity.
Beyond theory, participants engaged in hands-on practice and live demonstrations. An interactive Q&A session addressed common concerns, including how to continue using Accurate Lite after the trial period. The organizing team responded promptly to participants’ issues, offering clear instructions and alternative solutions.
At the end of the workshop, attendees filled out evaluation questionnaires and provided direct feedback. Meanwhile, the student team conducted an internal review to assess the overall effectiveness of the activity.
Driven by the spirit of service, PPG UNIPMA students hope that MSME players can manage their businesses in a more structured and professional manner in the digital age. This initiative is expected to be the first step toward building resilient, creative, and competitive MSMEs.
