Global Collaboration! UNIPMA Welcomes SEA Teacher and Visiting Professor 2025, Discusses the Evolution of Philippine Education

Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) continues to solidify its position as a globally-minded educational institution through its Guest Lecture Series, held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at UNIPMA's Integrated Laboratory. Embracing the spirit of internationalization, the event was part of the Welcoming SEA Teacher and Visiting Professor 2025 program. Two distinguished speakers from Cavite State University, Philippines—Dr. Ammie P. Ferrer and Dr. Rosely Ymna—shared new perspectives on education.

In the first session, Dr. Ammie P. Ferrer presented a lecture titled “The Evolution of the Philippine Education System.” She traced the development of the Philippine education system from the colonial era to its modern, inclusive, and technology-based transformation. With a straightforward yet engaging style, Dr. Ferrer highlighted that innovation and adaptability are key to addressing the challenges of education in the era of globalization—insights highly relevant to Indonesia's educational landscape.

The next session was equally inspiring. Dr. Rosely Ymna delivered a lecture on “The Transformative Role of Teacher Education in Community Building: Integrating ABAKADA as a Catalyst for Empowering Out-of-School Youth.” She introduced the ABAKADA concept, a community-based educational approach designed to empower out-of-school children. Dr. Ymna emphasized the pivotal role educators can play as "agents of change" with significant social impact.

UNIPMA’s Rector, Dr. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd., expressed his gratitude during the event. “Welcome to Cavite State University. This collaboration not only broadens the horizons of our students and faculty but also reflects UNIPMA's commitment to developing programs rooted in culture, technology, science, research, education, and learning to address the challenges of education in the global era,” he stated.

The event organizer, Sri Lestari, S.Pd., M.Pd., highlighted the importance of the initiative in an interview. “This activity is a tangible form of the international collaboration between UNIPMA and Cavite State University through the faculty mobility program. We hope this partnership can expand further in the future, especially in research and community service,” she explained.

The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) and its staff, heads of study programs, lecturers, and students across UNIPMA’s various study programs. Additionally, the event featured the signing of partnership agreements between Cavite State University and UNIPMA’s study programs, including Biology Education, Physics Education, Accounting Education, Civic Education, Electrical Engineering Education, Economics Education, History Education, and Mathematics Education.

The shared moments were captured in a group photo session, reflecting the harmonious synergy between UNIPMA and Cavite State University. This collaboration marks a milestone in strengthening UNIPMA’s contribution to global education and community empowerment. With this spirit, UNIPMA is ready to take greater strides as a pioneer of excellent education that reaches the world.
