The Economic Education Study Programme of Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) in collaboration with the State University of Malang (UM) held a community service activity with the theme ‘Improving Contextual Case Based Learning Capabilities for Teachers in the Madiun Region’. This event took place on Saturday, 07/09/2024, yesterday at I-Club Madiun and was attended by dozens of participants.

This activity was led by the Head of the UNIPMA Economics Education Study Programme, Ramadhan Prasetya Wibawa, M.Pd, who also acted as the chief executive and discussant. This event presented expert speakers from UM, namely Prof. Dr. Hari Wahyono, M.Pd and Dr. Tri Wahyu Hardaningrun, S.E., M.Pd. The discussion was guided by Dr Novita Erliana Sari, M.Pd, a lecturer in Economics Education at UNIPMA.

The event was attended by the Heads of Subject Teacher Consultation (MGMP) from various regions such as Madiun City, Madiun Regency, Ngawi, Ponorogo, Magetan, as well as the Head of Madiun City Social Studies MGMP. The participants consisted of junior high school, high school, vocational school teachers in the Madiun area as well as several alumni of UNIPMA Economics Education students.

The main objective of this activity was to improve teachers' ability to apply contextualised case-based learning methods. The participants gained insights on how to implement this method in the classroom as well as the utilisation of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to support learning. In addition, UNIPMA Economics Education lecturers were also present and provided full support for the success of this event.

Through this activity, it is hoped that teachers can be more creative in developing learning that is relevant to real conditions, so as to improve the quality of education in Madiun and surrounding areas.
