Unipmas PKM-PM Team Holds Aquascape-Based Life Skill Training for Residents of Prison I Madiun

The Student Creativity Program held by Kemenristekdikti provides opportunities for students to innovate and do community service. One of the PKM Community Service Teams at PGRI Madiun University in 2022 was funded by the Higher Education, with 4 members namely Ayu Safitri from Mathematics Education 2019, Pebriani Rahmawati from Mathematics Education 2018, Lavenia Pratiwiningtyas from the Management study program 2018 and Fajar Rahma Hidayat also from management in 2018. This activity was accompanied by a lecturer in the mathematics education study program, Restu Lusiana., M.Pd.

The activity held was themed Aquascape-Based Life Skill Training for Youth Convicts of Drug Cases at Madiun I Prison to Realize SDGs.

Lapas I Madiun is a Correctional Institution located at Jalan Yos Sudarso No. 100, Madiun Lor, Manguharjo District, Madiun City. Most of the inmates of Madiun Prison are transferred from their respective domicile prisons, such as Bali, Surabaya, Madura and others.

The condition of the Madiun prison inmates is experiencing problems from several aspects. The problem is the social conditions in which the inmates have a variety of diverse backgrounds. On average they are not married (junior high school and high school graduates) and the average sentence is 5 years, so they need life skills training as a provision to return to society.

In terms of economic conditions, many of them come from families with a lower-middle economy, but there are some youths who come from families with an upper-middle economy.

Meanwhile, solutions that have been provided for drug case convicts at Madiun Prison include providing training, rehabilitation and counseling. However, the training was felt to be lacking, because it was carried out in a certain period without any continuity of activities. In addition to this, there is still a lot of free time that is not used properly by young convicts in prison.

Nowadays, the creative industry world sector, one of which is Aquascape, is in great demand by the public. From this problem, our team conducted training, namely conducting Aquascape-based life skill training for youth convicts of drug cases at Madiun Prison as an effort to realize SDGs, especially in developing life skills as capital to start a new, better life in society and improve the economy in the tourism sector. creative industry.

This activity was held in July 2022. The assisted residents were very happy and enthusiastic to take part in this activity. This is apart from the public's opinion that the inmates are seen as unfavorable. Therefore we try to eliminate this view by providing this training.

It is hoped that this activity will provide relaxation from the addiction to drug use, additional capabilities for inmates in the creative industry sector, and improve their welfare in the future.
